State of the Church
The 21st century church is steeped in traditions and practices that cannot be reconciled with scripture. This was true in Jesus' day as well.
He first cleansed the temple in John 2:13-16 and then again near the end of his ministry (Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, & Luke 19:46). In addition to his proclamation of the truth Jesus made sure to denounce the false practices of his day.
Renewing Your Faith Ministries is committed to helping the body of Christ thrive by following in Jesus' foot steps in the same way. The proclamation of truth and the denouncing of error work together in the discipling process. A hopelessness is creeping in on many people who attend church. There are a variety of factors which are fueling this hopelessness. First, many are being exposed to a carnal and empty proclamation of the Word of God. Todays preaching is full of inspiration, humor, and human wisdom but it lacks the power. It is geared more toward insight and enlightenment rather than spiritual transformation.
Living by the Spirit is more of a cliche and very few churches actually prepare their attenders to live by faith. The Holy Spirits active work has been replaced with notions of human accountability and a multi-billion dollar self help industry.
Finally, the worship of God has been overshadowed with a pop culture entertainment that creates many religious consumers and fewer born again disciples.
The Bride of Christ; the Church is in a state of ruin, we are dedicated to the reformation, restoration, & renewal of the universal body of Christ. God does not want you to "GO" to church-- God wants you to "BE" the church.
