Love: A Message of Hope
In Mark 12:29-31 Jesus was questioned by the Pharisees about the greatest commandment. 29 "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: `Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
What is "LOVE"?
In 1 John 4:7 teaches us that everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does nto love does not know God, because God is love. Many church goers have no idea that love is the barometer of every Christian's life. The person who is not anchored in love will drift aimlessly. One meaningless relationship after another. Obsessive compulsive disorders. Fear and anxiety filled lives.
Love Brings Joy:
Many people express their desire to be happy. Unfortunately, they miss a very basic truth. Things don't bring joy, they only elicit temporary happiness. True joy can only be found in God through Christ. In Psalm 5:11 (NIV) all who take refuge in God will be glad. The Psalmist also says in Psalm 16:11 (NASB) In Thy presence is fullness of joy; In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever. God is the eternal source of true joy. The Apostle Paul also recognizes the joy which flows from love in Philippians 2:1 and Philemon 1:6-7. He derives joy as God's children love each other and as Christians actively do the work of the ministry.
The Unfailing Love of God:
This message reminds us that God's love never fails. It is only when we understand God's that we can truly love one another. Psalm 90:1-17 helps us to see God high and lifted up.
