OPERATION LOVE STRONG
Friends I would like to introduce you to Operation “Love Strong” (OLS). The goal of this campaign
is to help people all over the world one person at a time. So often organizations parachute into third
world countries or impoverished communities with clothes, food, water, and even
a message of hope however when they leave and return home, the community
quickly reverts back to their broken condition.
My desire is to empower people by increasing their capacity to care for
themselves, their families, their communities, and ultimately their city/country.
Our first “Love
Strong” project began in Port Au Prince, Haiti in August 2012. Working hand in hand with a local pastor, Ernst
Dalton we traveled throughout Port Au Prince surveying the city and the
countryside. During our visit we spent time with two of Pastor Dalton’s congregations
as well as a third location that is currently under construction.
During our time of ministry and evaluation it became clear
what God’s purpose was for RYFM; to develop a ministry which empowers people
with spiritual resources as well as natural.
Operation “Love Strong” is
focusing on making sure that faith communities are able to care for themselves
instead of becoming completely reliant on handouts. This ministry philosophy is just like the old
adage, “If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day but if you teach him to
fish he can eat every day.” The purpose
of operation “Love Strong” is to teach people how to fish so that they can care
for themselves after the missionaries/supporters have gone home.
